Vandalism leads to holiday park security increase

A caravan site boss in Blackpool is looking to improve security at the park following attacks from vandals, it has been reported.

Marton Mere holiday village manager Andy Cressey has stated that the second homes of 700 people "deserve to be protected", according to Blackpool Today.

Three youths were arrested by police after four motor homes in the area were damaged, it added.

They were caught out by measures taken by Mr Cressey in August 2006, when he spent over £100,000 on security.

"One guard watches the CCTV all the time. Before this incident we haven't had any problems at the park for over a year," he said.

As a result, the increase in security could mean that people pay less for their caravan insurance if cover companies consider the region indicative of a reduced risk.

This comes as Journal Live reports that fire fighters spent two hours tackling a duel caravan fire in County Durham.

It added that residents were told to evacuate their home as officials dealt with the blaze.

The fire brigade is now carrying out an investigation into the matter.
