Caravan park announces 80 new plots
Proposals have emerged to expand the size of a caravan park in Walney, it has been reported.
According to the North-West Evening Mail, South End Caravan Park bosses are looking to increase capacity by 80, bringing its total space to 173.
This will involve the removal of farm buildings not in use as well as expanding onto grazing land nearby.
It may be that as a result of the extra vehicles, caravan insurance companies consider the area to represent a larger risk and increase the cost of a policy for motor homes in the area.
Barrow Borough Council has received the plans but consultation with various groups, such as the Environment Agency, is being sought, it added.
The plans are also set to go to public consultation.
"The application only came in recently so we are looking at around March-time before a decision will be made," said Barrow Borough Council planning official Jason Hipkiss.
Meanwhile, a caravan park in North Wales was the site of a celebrity auction and summer ball in aid of raising money for charity.
The Morfa Nefyn site raised £18,000 for the North Wales Air Ambulance.
