Councillor calls for trailer MoT

A councillor in Heage believes that a change of the law is required when it comes to testing trailers in the UK, it has been reported.

The Ripley & Heanor News states that Amber Valley Borough council member Juliette Blake would like to see improved assessments brought in.

Ms Blake said that compulsory tests should be carried out on caravans too, as well as towed plant vehicles.

This could see caravan insurance policies increase if cover companies consider a failed test indicative of a dangerous vehicle.

She pointed to an online petition as one place where like-minded people could register the same opinion.

"Many deaths and serious injuries have resulted but no action has been taken by this or any previous government. It is ludicrous that there is no compulsory testing for trailers in our country and Europe," she said.

A holiday park in Yorkshire is to receive £500,000 in investment, according to the Business Desk.

Blue Sky Resorts in Wakefield now owns Springhouse Caravan Park in Slaley in Northumberland - its third park - after paying £1.6 million for the site, it said.
