Caravan growth 'may breach licence'
Council officials are to look into claims that a caravan site in Taunton is installing extra motor homes in breach of its current licence, it has been reported.
The Somerset County Gazette states that three new grass areas have been dug up by Berkley Homes, ready to fit the new vehicles.
Now, Ivy House Park residents have appealed to local authorities to investigate the matter, with one saying: "It's really churning me up."
Extra caravans could also have an effect on the cost of caravan insurance in the area.
This is because some cover firms could consider the increased number of motor homes indicative of a larger threat to vehicles already there and hike up prices as a result.
"We are currently confirming the number of caravans on the site and investigating allegations that more are due to be installed," commented a spokesman for Taunton Deane Council.
"We are also endeavouring to work with the site owner and residents to resolve the matter."
This comes as Advertiser 24 reports that travellers will be allowed to use a Green Belt site on Nuckies Farm in Coursers Road, Colney Heath.
