New terms agreed for site caravan ownership

A new deal has been struck which gives potential owners of caravans on sites fairer terms and conditions when buying motor homes, it has been reported.

The Office of Fair Trading has announced that it has come to an agreement with the British Holiday & Home Parks Association and the National Caravan Council - groups accounting for a large amount of the sector in the UK.

Under the new terms, the sale of the vehicles will be governed in a fairer way, while there will be great clarity when it comes to how sellers should behave.

This could have an effect on caravan insurance policies, as cover firms could see the stricter rules result in people offering vehicle in better condition - thus reducing costs.

"We hope this will set an example to all park owners and encourage them to review their terms and conditions to ensure they are fair," commented Mike Haley, head of customer protection at the Office of Fair Trading.

This comes after plans in Bosham will see a cricket pitch be turned into a caravan park, with space for more than 40 vehicles, the Chichester Observer reports.
