Oxfordshire residents 'still living in caravans'
People in parts of Oxfordshire whose homes were damaged by floods earlier this year are still yet to move back to their properties, it has been reported.
According to the Oxford Mail, over 260 houses are empty while repair work is carried out.
In the meantime, some have been living in caravans, which could be a problem for those with big families in terms of space and expense.
This is because cover firms could consider more people in a motor home indicative of a greater risk to the vehicle.
John Kelly, emergency planning officer for the paper, commented that there had only been eight instances where houses had been reoccupied in Earl Street, Oxford.
"Some councils are having difficulty in getting a precise picture, because people have not reported their situation to their insurers or local housing authority," he said.
One town severely hit by flood damage was Tewkesbury, which the BBC recently called a "shanty town of caravans" in the wake of the conditions.
The national news provider added that the Association of British Insurers believes the total cost caused by the damage to be £3 billion.
