Northumberland caravan park bought

A caravan park in Northumberland has been bought by a resorts company, it has been reported.

The Journal states that Springhouse Caravan Park in Slaley has been acquired by Yorkshire company Blue Sky Resorts in a deal said to be worth £1.6 million.

In the coming years, the firm is looking to pump £500,000 into the site in order to upgrade its infrastructure to a five-star level, the source added.

This could mean that the cost of caravan insurance decreases, as better security and infrastructure may see cover providers decide to lower their prices.

Mark Aston, operations director at Wakefield-based Blue Sky, commented that the firm has bought a site steeped in 30 years of history.

"We are delighted to have completed this acquisition, as it fits with Blue Sky Resorts' growth strategy and I would like to thank the team at NatWest for their support in this deal," said the official.

This comes as the North-West Evening Mail reports that Barrow Borough Council has received a planning application for space for a further 80 static and 44 touring caravan pitches at South End Caravan Park.
