Caravan breaks 'can minimise carbon footprint'
People in the UK can make their carbon footprint smaller by holidaying within the UK in a caravan, it has been claimed.
The National Caravan Council believes a static caravan holiday is an energy efficient way to take a break, Easier reports.
It advises people to look for sites close to attractions and activities, allowing for short trips by foot to local destinations.
This could prove beneficial as caravan insurance firms could follow the example of the car insurance industry by offering cheaper deals to those who go green.
It adds that holiday parks firm Haven currently has 33 sites with Gold Conservation Award accreditation, calling it a "great green option" for travellers.
"You can minimise your miles travelling to your chosen holiday destination and once you arrive there's so much to do on the park you won't need to travel any further," read the report.
Meanwhile, the Boston Standard states that local residents are against plans to create houses on a caravan site in the region.
The Chestnut Homes proposal would result in 111 new buildings, in addition to landscaping, public spaces and roads, it added.
