Caravan park extension works begins
Workmen have started the extension of a holiday park on the north-east coast, according to a local news source.
The Journal reports that the £5 million scheme to renovate Golden Sands Holiday Park close to Cresswell in Northumberland has got underway.
As part of the work, some 100 acres of land is to be converted into space for luxury caravan homes - a move which will create more than 40 jobs in the area.
But it may be that the increase number of motor homes has an effect on the cost of a caravan insurance policy in the region.
This is because some firms could view the volume of vehicles as indicative of the risk the area holds.
Golden Sands' director Nigel Thompson said the firm is looking to "retain and enhance an area where people can experience and enjoy natural, country living".
"One of the main reasons people want to come to Cresswell in the first place is because it is a beautiful part of the world and still very much unknown as a holiday destination," said Mr Thompson.
On its website, the firm states that Golden Sands is appropriate for couples, families and anyone looking to get away for a few days.
