Residents protest planning plans with petition

Plans to keep three caravans at a site in Cotford St Luke are being protested by local residents, it has been reported.

According to the Somerset County Gazette, close to 200 people went to a meeting in December at the village's community centre to show their opposition to proposals.

In order to further their cause, the residents have formed an action group headed by chairman Nigel Parkin.

Mr Parkin comments that the proposals goes against the area's planned development and as such should not be allowed to go ahead.

He said: "We are objecting the grounds that the development is outside the development plans for Cotford St Luke. We are also concerned it would act as a precedent for any further development for the village."

The extra motor homes could also pose a problem to those with caravan insurance, as it may be that they end up paying more if cover firms consider the area more of a risk for owners.

Meanwhile, Cambourne is readying itself for the opening of its first caravan site on Friday, reports the Hunts Post.

The news site comments that the park could potentially hold 55 such vehicles.
