Fire in caravan sees force called in

Fire officials in Ipswich were called out to deal with a caravan blaze on Sunday, a local news source has reported.

According to the Evening Star, a crew arrived on the scene on Austin Street shortly after midday, with a backup crew assisting with an extra supply of water.

The blaze, at a motor home behind Bridge Ward social club, was dealt with quickly, commented eyewitness Keith Cooper.

However, the professional photographer added that there was a concern that a nearby gas supply could be reached by the flames.

If it had been, it would surely have had a severe effect on caravan insurance policies in the area if nearby vehicles were hit by the blast.

He said: "The fire service had to run long hoses because it was quite difficult for them to get to. People had to be kept away because there were fears gas canisters could explode."

This comes as the South Devon Herald Express reports that a Broadhempston motor home has been hit by an arson attack.

According to the news source, two gas cylinders were found by fire crews close to the scene.
