Caravan park firm issued notice for jumping gun
Council officials have issued a legal notice to a holiday company who began work on a caravan site expansion project too soon, it has been reported.
According to Journal Live, planning consent for the £5 million scheme has got underway ahead of schedule at the Golden Sands park in Cresswell, causing Castle Morpeth Borough Council bosses to halt their progress.
The news source adds that local residents and parish councillors have been complaining to the body that the work has been going on, but it is only now that the notice has been issued.
Northumbrian Leisure, the firm behind the site, has 28 days to respond to proposed planning conditions or risk the project being stopped.
"Local people fail to understand why it has taken them so long to take appropriate action. It is absolutely disgraceful," commented Cresswell parish councillor Dr Phil Kirkwood.
It may be that residents who own caravans find that their caravan insurance polices go up when the work is finally finished, as cover firms may judge them to be more at risk due to the increase number of vehicles.
This comes as the Edinburgh Evening News comments that a young gang has been caught by police after vandalising Belhaven Bay Caravan Park close to Dunbar in East Lothian.
