Caravan site opening 'halted due to repairs'

The opening of a popular caravan site in Aberdeenshire has been put on hold following repair work to sewerage and drainage areas, it has been reported.

According to the Banffshire Journal, the maintenance will not be completed until March 28th, meaning holidaymakers could have to wait until April to visit the site.

The £190,000 improvements could not be moved, the source added, even though it means the park will not be open on Friday March 21st - the start of the new season.

However, were the work to not go ahead it may have affected caravan insurance policies in the area, with visitors making claims due to damage to their vehicles caused by the drainage problems.

Furthermore, the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency would not have allowed the park to open if the repairs were not completed to its satisfaction, the body added.

This comes as The Caravan Club has revealed that people heading on holiday in the motor homes have all that they possibly need.

"A lot of people's perceptions of caravanning are stuck in the seventies but if they were to go into a modern caravan today, you have got everything," said head of PR Nikki Nichol.
