Horse group helps out with caravan safety DVD
The British Horse Society (BHS) is to lend a hand in the launch of a new caravan safety DVD.
Are You Fit To Tow?, produced in conjunction with the Highways Agency (HA), features advice for people on how best to attach their trailers and caravans in order to keep them safe when making a trip.
Figures show that this is a problem in the UK, as there were 43 deaths along with 1,400 injuries involving trailers.
It may be that this has had an effect on caravan insurance costs, with firms choosing to up the price of cover if they see the activity as dangerous.
Sheila hardy, senior executive for safety at the BHS, remarked that she is "delighted" to be teaming up with the HA over the issue.
"Above all they have emphasised the need for drivers to appreciate that to tow most trailers, they need further training and to take another driving test," said the official.
Meanwhile, fire officials were called to deal with a blaze in Bolton le Sands last Friday at Stewart Longton Caravans, reports Lancaster Today.
