Caravan park increases prices, causes uproar
Residents at a caravan park have voiced their displeasure at price increases at a South Tynseside site, it has been reported.
According to the Shields Gazette, the boss of the area has implemented a 25 per cent rise in rents and a higher bill to leave the park.
It stated site owner Northumbrian Leisure is now charging £700 for people who want to leave as well as £300 extra for rent.
This means that residents such as 62-year-old Mary Bryan could have to pay hundreds of pounds to exit the park, despite having lived there for over 20 years, the news source added.
It may be that the extra money involved proves too much for some dwellers, as they could already be paying out expensive caravan insurance bills.
"The bottom line is, the people on that site have been able to do what they want for too long. It's been a free-for-all...Damage can be caused," Northumbrian Leisure boss Nigel Thompson, speaking to the Gazette.
Meanwhile, the Northumberland Gazette reports that a caravan site proposed by a company owned by the Duke of Northumberland will not go ahead after a string of objections.
