Green efforts rewarded for caravan parks firm

A caravan firm in the Lake District has been given a prize for its efforts concerning the environment, a news source in the area reports.

Celebrity botanist and eco-campaigner David Bellamy has awarded South Lakeland Parks a gold status award for practicing environmentally-friendly procedures at its sites, according to the News & Star.

This marks the latest award given to the group by the celebrity in 24 years, with Troutbeck Valley, Limefitt and the five-star Fallbarrow park all being hailed in the past.

Bellamy remarked that the work being done by the company to stay green had "absolutely amazed" him.

He said: "Parks like this are creating wildlife wonderlands and it's time they were given well-deserved recognition for their environment commitment."

David Bellamy has written and presented almost 400 programmes on television, mainly on issues such as botany, the environment and ecology.

Furthermore, the expert has published approximately 80 scientific papers as well as books on the subjects.

He is also known for unsuccessfully standing against incumbent prime minister John Major as part of the anti-European Union Referendum Party.
