Caravan park 'only Lancashire site shortlisted for award'

A caravan park in Fylde is the only one in Lancashire to be nominated for a national leisure award, it has been reported.

The five-star Sunset Park in Hambleton is up for the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2008, according to Blackpool Today.

But it is the only one in the county to be nominated for any of the top 15 categories, the news source added.

Over the last few years, the bosses at the site have expanded it by adding new themed regions.

Green Meadows is a gated area for traditional caravans while Meadow Point has been set up to house timber lodges where people can stay.

Hugh Taylor, Quality VisitEngland chairman, commented that the awards are for those who push the boundaries of the industry.

"The finalists have been chosen for leading the way in terms of innovation through continued investment whilst also maintaining consistently high quality and standards in their field," said the official.

And the publication stated that the prizes will be handed out at a ceremony on April 23rd - St George's Day - at St George's Hall in Liverpool.
