Caravan and chalet owners 'appeal for more rights'

Residents at a holiday park have banded together in order to fight for a change in the law which would give chalet and caravan owners more rights, it has been reported.

According to Bridlington Today, people staying at South Shore Holiday Park in Bridlington have been left devastated after plans were announced to demolish their holiday homes without compensation.

Chairman of the chalet owners' association John Waistnage said that officials in the area have not shown any consideration for those who have purchased chalets over the past few years.

"They have no thought for people who invest their life savings or retirements funds into a holiday retreat," he said.

However, it may be that the cost of caravan insurance in the area goes down should the number of motor homes in the region drop.

This comes as the Times & Star reports that a four-star hotel at Cumberland Lodge and Leisure Stables has been scrapped in favour of a caravan site.

According to the news source, the man behind the plans, George Campbell, wants to create an area for holiday lodges as well as 100 luxury static motor homes.
