Caravan bookings enjoy Easter surge
Caravan bookings for the long Easter weekend have seen a significant increase compared with last year, according to reports.
The Camping and Caravanning Club told the Times that advance bookings for caravan holidays have soared by 32 per cent this year compared with the same period in 2007.
This is despite the colder weather and adverse conditions predicted to last throughout the weekend, it said.
According to the RAC, more Britons are likely to stay in the country for this year's Easter break as a result of factors such as the ongoing credit crunch having a negative effect on people's finances.
Another reason may be the relative eco-friendliness of caravanning compared with taking a flight overseas.
Research carried out by the AA last year suggested that growing numbers of Britons are opting to go on camping and caravanning holidays during the summer.
