Caravan site damage 'will cost millions to repair'
Damage caused by flooding to a caravan site in Selsey will cost millions of pounds to put right, according to news source in the area.
The Argus states that the Bunn Leisure West Sands park saw its vehicles hit by waves after its sea defences were breached on Monday last week.
As a result, a number of motor homes are damaged beyond repair, with some so battered by the water caravan insurance companies will not pay out.
Indeed, the cost of caravan insurance in the region could go up if the area is considered a risk by cover providers.
Bunn Leisure's John Bunn remarked that the damaged caused was "heartbreaking" for staff at the site, with the news source adding that some 300 vehicles were written off.
"We currently have about 400 of our 1,500 caravans open and are getting back online between 100 and 150 a day. We hope to be fully operational again by April 4th," he said.
Meanwhile, the Hexham Courant has reported that visitors to Springhouse Caravan Park were put off by flood damage which they said left the site as "a sea of mud".
