Caravan towers cited as road annoyance

People in the UK have named those towing caravans among their biggest road annoyances, it has been reported.

A new study from ITV Local has claimed that motor home users irritate other motorists, while those who use their mobile phones behind the wheel also caused gripes.

Such frustration with motor home owners could result in accidents and compromise their caravan insurance policies.

This comes after Department for Transport legislation passed last year means that drivers who are caught using the devices on the road can pick up a £60 fine in addition to a three-point licence penalty.

Figures from ITV Local show that aggressive drivers were a problem on the road, with people who cut up others' paths cited as annoyances, while one in ten stated that they had been physically attacked in their cars.

Motorbike riders causing queues were also identified by motorists as gripes, along with drivers who hold them up by travelling too slowly.

The study also found that people blasting loud music from their vehicles were also annoying to others in the road.

Last week, a report from the Royal Automobile Club Foundation found that 85 per cent of road users think of themselves as considerate drivers.
