Council tax bill 'possible for North Wales caravanners'
Those occupying caravans in North Wales could be subjected to council tax bills in the future under new plans from officials in the region, a local news source has reported.
Currently, people dwelling in motor homes do not have to pay for council services such as rubbish collection, according to the Daily Post North Wales.
But officials in the area are discussing bringing in new legislation meaning that they will have to pay in the future, the news source added.
Such a change could prove to be most unwelcome for those already paying high caravan insurance bills.
However, Conwy councillor Bob Squire remarked that it is unfair that some people pay the tax and others do not.
"A considerable number of people are accessing services free in Conwy and Denbighshire at the expense of local, council tax paying residents," commented the official.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that a group of residents close to Workington have banded together in order to protest a caravan site development plan in the area.
According to the Times & Star, a local businessman is looking to convert an area of land in the region into a caravan lodge.
