New security fence for caravan storage site
A caravan storage site is to install a security fence in an attempt to reduce vandalism, it has been reported.
The Old Destructors Yard on Burnley Road in Colne has been subjected to damage from vandals recently and it is thought that a three-metre high fence will deter criminals, according to the Burnley and Pendle Citizen.
However, the news source added that in order to pay for the extra security, the Colne and District Committee may consider hiking prices for site rental from £84 per year to £122.
Conversely, a fall in crime at the yard could result in fewer caravan insurance claims, meaning that the cost of cover could also fall for those keeping vehicles there.
"Rentals for private secure caravan storage compounds range from £150 to £350 per annum and therefore any increases which the executive may consider will be justified by the increase in security levels," stated a report from the council.
Meanwhile, the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph has reported that Wicksteed Park is adding 100 caravan plots to its ground, pending planning permission.
The site is also looking to incorporate 50 tent pitches and 25 permanent caravan homes, the news source added.
