Investigation launched after fire damages caravan

A caravan was badly damaged in a blaze that also burned a car close to the M5, according to a news source in Exeter, it has been reported.

The fire broke out in a field in the north of junction 27 on Friday morning, the Express & Echo has reported.

In order to contain it, officers attending the blaze removed two nearby butane gas canisters which could have caused an explosion.

Watch Commander Pratt was in charge of the operation and officials at the scene had doused the fire by 08:20 BST, having been alerted to it at around 06:00, the publication added.

This follows a blaze in South Petherton which resulted in a badly-damaged caravan on Good Friday, it has been reported.

According to Yeovil Express, the midday fire was put out by officials at approximately 14:00 and caused 90 per cent damage to the vehicle.

It may be that the owners of the vehicle now have to pay more for their caravan insurance in the future.

This is because some cover firms may view the fire as an act of negligence.
