Caravan show to move from York

A large caravan show is to move from York after 13 years operating in the city, it has been reported.

York Press has commented that the Northern Motorcaravan Show is to be held at the Picking Showground this autumn, with some 4,000 motor homes and caravans expected to descend on the site.

As a result, it may be that the large volume of vehicles affects caravan insurance policies if motor homes pick up knocks and scrapes.

The show, which lasts from September 19th to the 22nd, welcomed 13,000 visitors in York last year, but show official Maxine Shepherd from Warner Group Publications stated that maintenance to a nearby racecourse made it unworkable for 2008.

"We're very pleased to have found a venue so close to York, and as it is a proper showground it will give us more on-site facilities for our biggest event of the year," she said.

This comes as a couple from Shelf are to appeal a decision to shut down their caravan-storage site.

According to the Evening Courier, Anthony and Paula Briggs have been asked by council bosses to cease operations at Pepper Hill Farm.
