Two more parks for Northumbrian Leisure

A holiday business based in Northumberland has bought two more caravan parks, according to a local news source.

Family-owned Northumbrian Leisure boosted its profits to more than £15 million when it picked up the Glororum and Sandhaven sites for an undisclosed fee, The Journal has reported.

This puts the company among the largest privately-owned holiday site businesses in the region and is a "massive opportunity" for the company, according to managing director Nigel Thompson.

Indeed, those with caravan insurance may find that the change in ownership has an affect on caravan insurance policies in the area if cover firms see fit to change prices.

Mr Thompson said: "It's a very exciting time for the company and the different areas we are moving into. The holiday park business brings jobs and added spend into the local economy."

The same news source has reported that agents working for the Duke of Northumberland are to appeal a decision to refuse his company planning permission to develop a caravan park in the region.

According to the body, the Duke is looking to develop a site in Warkworth.
