Caravan licensing to be reviewed by council

The conditions under which caravan sites in Norfolk can take out licensing is to be reviewed by local officials, according to a local news source.

Some 170 parks are in the jurisdiction of North Norfolk District Council, which is looking to ensure that safety regulations are met across the entire county, the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press stated.

A year-long investigation from the council's environmental health officers into the matter found a number of recurring problems at sites, including inefficient fire safety and playground equipment, the news source added.

Indeed, it may be that new equipment helps caravan insurance customers save on their policies as it could see them make fewer claims.

Claire Taylor, director of Ivy Farm Holiday Park, remarked that the changes mean park bosses will have to up their game if they are to stay within the rules.

She said: "We all have to keep our standards high because competition is so fierce. We are spot-checked without any warning by the tourism board to get our four-star rating."

Ivy Farm Holiday Park includes 25 plots for visitors with their own motor homes, as well as a hire service with two and three bedroom luxury caravans available.
