New caravan park 'will do little to attract tourists'

A new static caravan park in Hunstanton will not contribute much to the "declining" state of tourism in the area, it has been claimed.

Lynn News has reported that Nigel Coasdale, manager of Hunstantion Sealife Sanctuary, does not believe the planned Seagate caravan park off Seagate Road will provide much business for the area.

He commented that static caravans owned by families would not be of any benefit to the local community after the decision to set up the park was approved by West Norfolk Council's development control board.

Caravan Insurance

It may be that the new site leads to an increase in caravan insurance policy costs in the region, as a greater number of vehicles could see cover firms charge more for protection.

"Hunstanton has just had the worst Easter fortnight we have ever had with it being an early holiday and cold weather...There has been a complete drop off in day visitors and in the same week we get a planning application receiving approval which has no benefit to increasing tourism," said Mr Coasdale.

This comes as the North-West Evening Mail has reported that South End Caravan Park on Walney is looking to create more than 100 extra static and touring caravan plots.
