Holidaymakers' 'carbon footprint abroad could be reduced'

Caravan users heading abroad could find useful a number of tips on how to reduce a carbon footprint in a foreign country.

The pointers, issued by environmental advice company Carbon Footprint, include buying local produce on holiday, as this encourages nearby trade and reduces food miles.

In addition, the organisation remarks that people could also make use of a city's public transport links and rely less on their automobiles as a way of accumulating fewer carbon emissions.

But holidaymakers should be reminded that if they are heading abroad they should look for thorough caravan insurance to ensure that their vehicle is protected against theft, fire or general damage.

Carbon Footprint founder John Buckley commented that there are numerous ways people can reduce their emissions abroad in a similar manner to how they can in Britain.

"Use the same common sense that you'd use if you were at home - when you're not in the room, turn the television off," he said.

Tower Park Caravans and Camping in Cornwall is one campsite looking to become more environmentally friendly.

"We are not perfect but are trying hard to reduce our impact on the environment," comments the organisation.
