Handout offers advice on motor home tyres
People who travel on British roads in motor homes have been offered advice on how best to maintain the wheels of their vehicles in a new leaflet, it has been reported.
The TyreSafe Motorhome Tyres and Your Safety publication states that tyres are the only component of automobiles touching the road, yet they are often neglected by drivers.
Indeed, it may be that the tips and advice offered in the handout results in lives being saved in addition to the preservation of some caravan insurance policies.
The leaflet provides tyre sidewall marking and joint consultation advice too, the company stated.
"Care should be taken when replacing tyres and it is recommended that changes in tyre size or type should not be undertaken without seeking advice from either the tyre supplier or the vehicle manufacturer," remarked the tyre safety organisation.
This comes after research from the group found that tyre maintenance may not be a top priority for motorists.
According to the automotive safety body, 12 per cent of vehicles on UK roads have at least one tyre which is defective.
