'Coastal sites see upturn in visitors'
The number of people opting to take a holiday in a British coastal resort has gone up in recent times, it has been claimed.
According to tourist organisation VisitBritain, officials in such areas are now targeting specific demographics in order to attract visitors.
For example, the group has claimed that coastal resorts in Brighton are appealing to young fashionistas while food-lovers are being drawn to Whitstable by the lure of fresh oysters.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Sian Brenchley stated that resorts up and down Britain's coast "have really regenerated in recent years".
"It's fantastic news because it's regenerating the image of Britain overall. We've got so many diverse holiday opportunities for people to experience while they're here," said the official.
However, motor home users should be reminded of the need to pick up a caravan insurance policy in order to ensure their vehicles are protected.
UK Coast Guide has stated that 25 million holidays were spent in coastal resorts in the UK over 2005.
Similarly, figures from the National Caravan Council show that some 8,800 new motor homes were registered during the same year with the DVLA.
