Norfolk caravan parks 'not up to scratch'

A number of caravan parks in Norfolk are not up to scratch, it has been claimed.

Environmental health manager for the region Chris Cawley told North Norfolk District Council's licensing committee that 20 per cent of sites had potential problems, according to North Norfolk News.

The news source added that the officials found that some parks still had shared toilet blocks and facilities which needed to be modernised.

It may be that a site which is not up to standard poses a risk to motor home owners in the region, causing them to compromise their caravan insurance policies as a result.

Committee chairman Robin Combe stated the council should not be over-tough on sites in the region, but added that there was a need to improve conditions in order to enhance both the area's reputation and visitors' pleasure.

"If a child drowns in a swimming pool it is bad publicity for the whole of north Norfolk's tourist industry," added council chairman Sue Arnold.

This comes as Lynn News earlier this month stated that Seagate caravan park is to be redeveloped under new proposals from west Norfolk council.
